Mermaid Verse

music flows from lips and as words meet sound bound and found me, your eyes wide open, soul sprightly greeting thee….

“This hunger holds strong

Weights the chest

Glossy glistening milky eyes

The future calling

Heart set on prize

Almost starved and emaciated

Unsure about

Reality analogy foggy sight

I breathe

It’s dark and starry this night

I waited so long

For you to come around

Silly and serious, a great paradox

Rough and weary

You, too, saw the fox

She led you

Twisted and wistful down

Stony boney dead-beat road

slyly and coolly

She let you rest to set down the load

Dry still dusty taste

mouth parched

Tough enough time comes

Sight on crowd

The mellifluous sound hums

Music flows from lips

And as words meet

Sound bound and found me

Your eyes wide open

Soul sprightly greeting thee

I wanted to cry

“I’m here; I’ve shown myself”

refrained sustained by your penetrating smile

held back the words

the message received across the wild mile” – Megan Marie Seaman
