had to do it… Please support this Project….Vacancy film

Hello My Awesome Friends!

I am writing you, again, in one last stitch effort to get support for my mom’s film, Vacancy.

What is Vacancy, you might ask. It is an independent art film. In a nutshell, it’s a film about three women at a kind of crossroads in their lives. Each of them has an awakening, and must choose to move forward with freedom, risk, and uncertainty, or take the more predictable path and recapitulate the same tired story.

What’s so great and important about the film? Well, it creatively and honestly portrays the very relevant conundrum of “fit-in and follow-suit” or “follow your dreams and don’t let the bastards drag you down.” (by the way, I made up both of those quotes – with some help from U2 – they’re good, right?!) Winking smile One thing that makes the film unique is that she is shooting the entire film with classic film reel – shot in CinemaScope. Some of film is cross-processed and she will be incorporating still photos, text, animation, and original music by Cleveland’s own, Kristine Jackson (an excellent blues singer and artist).

SO, WHY DOES SHE NEED MY SUPPORT? Here’s the deal… through the fundraising site, Kickstarter, she has ONLY 9 DAYS, 15 HOURS, AND 5 MINUTES TO MEET HER GOAL! If she does not meet her goal, then she LOSES EVERYTHING! UGH, UGH, AND DOUBLE UGH!

How do I pledge my support? She is fundraising through Kickstarter, which is a reputable and fantastic resource for artists to get funding to complete their projects. To check out her project, go to the link below:

She needs the mulla! Your “likes” on Facebook or Twitter are GREAT! Still, the only way to meet her goal is to pledge your support monetarily. You can pledge whatever, or you can select on a pledge amount: $1, $10, $20, $50, $100, $200 – $2500! As you’ll see at the Kickstarter page, with your pledge of $10 or more you will receive complimentary gift packages, which makes giving your support exciting and HELPS THIS PROJECT TO COMPLETION!!!!!!!!!! Her goal is $20,000. She has until May 26th to reach her goal!

How do I find out more about Megan’s mom, AWESOME ARTIST, KAREN ST. JOHN-VINCENT?
If you want to know more about my mom – well, she is a soon-to-be famous artist, poet, and film maker. Really, though, check out her website, her Facebook page, and her blog. See below:

Love you, my friends!

Didn’t Recognize You (5-3-2012) By Megan Seaman

You as Yourself in this Part of Existence

“Didn’t recognize you

when I saw your face

But remembered your soul

when I heard your voice

The first time

was a lingering note

In the form of

deceiving lovers lullaby

And I kept it

close and so dear

Went skipping back

to my room to hear your tune

Discovered you – don’t recall

the first word you said

Just recollected

the tone the pitch the swing

Bringing me to my knees

And picking me up

The feeling in my heart

Like electrifying rush

Something so familiar,

Like I loved you, lived you before

That was four years gone

And I’m alone here with your song

Oh, how I long

To start again.” – Megan Marie Seaman

In My Mind (2-16-2012) by Megan Seaman

“Nothing nice to say

Then don’t speak another word

But remember to breathe each breath

As tears send forth waves of rage

They shake, quake the

Weathered shores they roll over

A million granules of what was

Underwater yesterday and a billion years or more

Do you remember?

Do you recall?

The fall, the tumble you took

100 years before?

What did you learn?

What could you discern?

Now 100 years present

How will today be changed?

Rain drops on dry forgotten skin

Covered ‘til now.

Exposed in the mysterious moonlight

Of this ethereal night

And you wait for it, counting the

Minutes, the seconds, and moments

Anticipating the creatures

Who arise from the ether

Of simple life

Being and light

But you can’t get happy

Because what’s so exciting about

Everything you expected it to be?

In the din of the mind stuff

Get lost, crossed, off course

From forgotten path

But there’s always that light

Twinkling right here

Presently flaring

Just open your eyes

Open your eyes

Open your eyes

Don’t think another phrase

With the lenses of your belly

Witness what is and step, accordingly

Without a word.” – Megan Marie Seaman
